Homemade Apple Sauce with Tahini and Chia
Recipe and photographs by Yuval Mozes of the blog Edible Poetry
The beautiful apples have begun “aging” – a few wrinkles, hard becoming soft, and they no longer give you the urge to sink your teeth in. Instead of throwing them away, you can make this quick, healthy and tasty dish!
Ingredients:
Apples (varying quantity)
Tahini
Chia seeds
Preparation:
Peel and pit the apples, place each apple in water with lemon to prevent browning.
Place the peeled apples in a large pot; add 2 cm of liquid (apple cider or water).
Close the lid, cook on a medium flame for approximately 45 minutes, until the apples deform and become mushy. Cool. If you want a smooth paste you can transfer the apples into the food processor.
Place the sauce in a bowl and add tahini and chia seeds on top (pecans are also an option).
* Important note: The sauce can also be used to make a cake, and the apple peel can make apple vinegar.
The dish can be kept in the refrigerator.
