Recipe and photographs by Gal Mamalia of the blog Ptitim

The apples softened and lost their color and glow? Instead of throwing them out, you can make this healthy, tasty, simple snack.

Ingredients:

About 4 apples

Spices

Preparation:

Slice the apples to thin slices, using a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer (each apple should make 10-12 slices, with the slice thickness determining the level of crunchiness).

There is no need to core the apple.

Heat the oven to 120 degrees.

Place a parchment paper on a baking tray and scatter the slices; bake for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes turn the slices upside down and begin spicing up: cinnamon is great and classic for apples; but you can venture with smoked paprika, cumin and even ginger powder.

Return the tray to the oven for another 60-90 minutes until the apples brown (the time depends on the thickness of the slices).

Remove the apple slices from the tray to the kitchen counter, together with the parchment paper, or alternatively to a cooling rack – cooling will harden the apples and they will become crispy chips.

* The chips may be kept for at least a week in an airtight box outside the refrigerator.

Did you give it a try?
